Gill Constable, a long standing Cheddar Running Club member, recently celebrated her 70th birthday, and chose to celebrate it by completing seventy miles of racing between 1st January 2016 and 16th April 2016! And we chose to mark this achievement by presenting Gill with a special trophy at one of our club sessions :)

The races Gill has taken part in have ranged from 5k to ten miles and she has had some excellent results from the races which are listed below; finishing in the top ten for category and/or age grading at every race, and some of the ladies in her category are fifteen years younger! For context, an age grading of 80%+ is national level!

1st January – Hangover 10k – 6.2m (3rd in category)

9th January – Burnham & Highbridge parkrun – 3.1m (2nd in age grading with 81.72%)

21st January – Weston Prom Run – 5.0m (7th in category)

6th February – Burnham & Highbridge parkrun – 3.1m  (4th in age grading with 78.54%)

18th February – Weston Prom Run – 5.0m (6th in category)

21st February – Two Bays Tough Ten – 10.0m (5th in category)

28th February – Babcary Road Race – 7.5m (4th in category)

13th March – Butleigh Multi-Terrain Race – 7.0m (4th in category)

17th March – Weston Prom Run – 5.0m (8th in category)

19th March – Burnham & Highbridge parkrun – 3.1m  (1st in age grading with 79.44%)

26th March – Burnham & Highbridge parkrun – 3.1m  (1st in age grading with 77.07%)

28th March – Shapwick Bunny Hop – 7.5m (1st in category)

2nd April – Burnham & Highbridge parkrun – 3.1m (3rd in age grading with 81.16%)

14th April – Weston Prom Run – 5.0m (7th in category)

16th April – Burnham & Highbridge parkrun – 3.1m (1st in age grading with 82.37%)

So Gill actually surpassed the target of 70 miles, completing 76.8 miles in total! Gill’s family were there to support her at the Weston Prom Run on 14th April when the target was hit along with a large contingent of CRC runners and we are all very proud of her :) She’s a huge inspiration to us all and very supportive, having been there and done it all before!
