Suzanne Davis - Thorpe Park 2017

Suzanne storming to a sub-1:30 finish at the Thorpe Park Half Marathon

Name: Suzanne Davis
Age or Running Category: 39
How long have you been running? Since 2006……
Why do you run? Initially when I started running it was to get some headspace away from two very small nippers who were only 14.5months apart! Eventually a friend joined me – we started literally by going around the block and eventually did Bristol Half Marathon in 2007. I still run for headspace but it allows me to enjoy my food and drink too!
Describe your favourite run: A care free long run in the hills in the sunshine (mud optional) with good company or very early morning before everyone is up – I like seeing the countryside coming to life!
Do you take part in races? If so what distance/terrain? I’ve taken part in a few now, my preference being half marathons, although I enjoy the training for full marathons. Having done quite a bit on the road of late, I’m looking forward to trying my hand (or feet!) off-road again.
What is your greatest running achievement? Running Brighton Marathon 2016 in a time of 3:18:38, shaving a good 35 minutes or so off my previous marathon time of 3:55 and then going on to squeeze a sub 3:15 marathon time at Abingdon in October 2016 of 3:14:05 – never thought I could do it! I’ve managed a sub 1:30 half marathon too at Thorpe Park earlier this year – again something I never thought possible. With some trepidation I’m attempting London Marathon in a couple of weeks….
How long have you been a member of Cheddar Running Club?

Since 2012 I think.

Why did you join Cheddar Running Club?  I was getting a little fed up of running alone and wanted to try something new – haven’t looked back since!
How has Cheddar Running Club helped you and your running? It has massively improved my confidence in what I’m capable of, has definitely made me quicker and challenged me more and I’ve met some really lovely, amazing, inspiring people and the Club has given me so much – I’ve achieved things I never thought possible
What would you say to anyone thinking of joining the club? Do it now, don’t hesitate. I never thought I was good enough to join but that was nonsense – I wish I’d joined sooner J
