Name: | Andy Rich |
Age or Running Category: | Getting more senior by the moment |
How long have you been running? | Started in 2004 with a one off shuffle around the London marathon with no intention of running again afterwards.I managed this pretty well until 2010 when I started running again and haven’t stopped since. |
Why do you run? | Turns out I enjoy it!I like the running through the hills and trails around Cheddar but I also sadistically enjoy the clock watching pavement pounding of road running too. |
Describe your favourite run: | Long runs along the Somerset levels. It’s a chance have time to watch nature and enjoy not having to do or think about anything else. |
Do you take part in races? If so what distance/terrain? | Favourite race is a on road half marathon. |
What is your greatest running achievement? | There are lots but cracking a sub 1:30 half marathon at Gosport 2013 was pretty awesome. I never thought I could do it but encouragement from the club and great coaching from Shane did the trick.I haven’t been over a 1:30 since. |
How long have you been a member of Cheddar Running Club? | Since moving to Cheddar in 2012 |
Why did you join Cheddar Running Club? | Wanted to meet people from the local area. I also think that the motivation and structure from a club is essential for me. |
How has Cheddar Running Club helped you and your running? | Having regular training sessions each with a purpose in mind makes all the difference. The club has helped much more than I would have thought especially when you consider it’s quite a small club.
My half marathon time has gone down from 1:35 to 1:22, I wouldn’t have thought this was possible. |
What would you say to anyone thinking of joining the club? | Come along. The club has a wide range of runners and great knowledge of the local trails. |
