Three runners with three excuses set out for the Herepath half marathon

“I’m not sure I’m up for this I have got a bit of a cold coming on”
Andy Wicks

“I haven’t ran in an off road race since 2011”
Joanna Rich

“I got a bad finger, besides I haven’t gotten used to these new trainers”
Andy Rich

Taking into account of the added hour in bed we set off with plenty of time and using the the latest iPhone technology we successfully navigating to the old school house in beercombe.  Sadly the race was taking place at Thurlbear school.  As luck would have it that’s not far from beercombe.

Registration was well organised and race briefing straight forward with the warning of lots of mud and a few long horn cows.  The course is pretty much six miles climbing and six miles descending,  it’s also incredibly scenic.

In the end all the Cheddar runners finished with a smile and some better than expected results.  First in for the club was Andy Rich taking second place over all.  Andy Wicks was next in just missing out on a top ten finish with 11th place.  Joanna Rich crossed the line in a better than expected time of 2:27 and having NOT fallen over.
