It’s fair to say that waking up at 4am to jump in a lake swim for 1.9km, then head off on a 53 mile bike ride and top it off with a half marathon, isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.  The early start didn’t put off the three Cheddar runners and nearly 700 other competitors taking on the Cotswold half ironman.

With near perfect conditions and a fast flat course quick times were had by everyone.

An injured and hobbling Joanna Rich opted to complete the swim and bike but leave the run for another day.  Despite being seemingly covered in blue kenisology tape she still banged out a PB bike ride averaging 19.5mph and a 35 minute swim.

Andy Pittman specialising in producing awesome bike speeds on seemingly minimal training finished 110th (Overall 4:42 Swim : 32:06 Bike : 22.9mph Run : 1:42) and still had the energy to carry his son Croyed over the finish line.

Andy Rich celebrating his 40th birthday managed to say off the Guinness just long enough to come in 37th with the 9th best run of the day (Overall 4:28 Swim : 30:16 Bike : 21.7 mph Run : 1:25)
